We’re Paige and Mason. The Bend Banner is our way of keeping tabs on this wild, beautiful place we call home. To the mornings that start with coffee and mountain air, the trails that somehow always lead to a brewery, and the kind of small-town stories that remind you why you chose to live here in the first place.
Summer Mailer
A printed Bend bucket list, summer picks, and a few surprises we packed in just for you. It's basically a cheat code for a good July. Last chance to pre-order for summer! The Mailers will ship in early July.
Thanks for all your support, we hope this brings you some joy this summer.

Fresh on the Farm
There is something that happens when you open a produce haul and have no plan.
You dig through it. You start moving things around on the counter. And slowly, without meaning to, dinner figures itself out.
Last week, we picked up cucumbers, carrots, and lettuce from Fields Farm that looked like they had been cut about an hour ago. The kind of lettuce that actually has texture. The kind that makes you realize most grocery store lettuce isn’t even close to as fresh.
We built a salad. Nothing fancy. But we added pickled beets, which did that thing pickled beets always do, where they make everything taste more intentional than it actually was. A handful of walnuts went in for crunch. Then a simple dressing: good olive oil, a splash of red wine vinegar, salt, pepper, done.
It was one of those meals that just comes together and tastes amazing. Simple, well-grown ingredients.
Fields Farm has been quietly feeding a chunk of Bend for years, and you do not need a CSA box to get in on it. They run a farm stand in East Bend where you can show up, see what is ready, and take home something that was probably still in the ground yesterday. No commitment, no box. Just real food from people who actually grew it.
But Fields Farm is just one piece of what is growing around here right now. The Farmers’ Markets run all summer long, and there are plenty of other farms with local farm stands.
The fields right now are giving us the good stuff. Cucumbers. Carrots. Early potatoes starting to show up. Berries, if you know where to look.
Go find a box, a basket, or a stall. Bring cash. Say hi to the person who grew it.

This week’s haul: Potatoes, cilantro, spring onions, garlic scapes, kohlrabi, and lettuce.
